R.I.P Lucky

Well it sucks to say but my poor dog lucky passed away today a few hours ago. Although being woken up by his barks in the middle of the night to take him outside to answer natures call is one part I won't miss, he was still a good dog and a fun friend. It was a pleasure living with you my friend I hope we get to meet again. Enjoy your long sleep you lazy dog, we'll miss you.

A prayer for a decade of sadness

"Animosity does not eradicate animosity.
Only by loving kindness is animosity dissolved.
This law is ancient and eternal." Dhammapada Chapter 1 Twins
R.I.P to all those lost a decade ago and to all those lost since.

Gonna dedicate my time to music

I've decided to dedicate most of my time to music for now its been a while since I have and I feel bad for neglecting something so soothing and mystical. I'll also use the Dhammapada and Dao De Jing as guidelines for my music meditations. Hopefully I'll be able to craft some songs here or there, or hopefully parts of songs so I can piece them together with future songs. Anyway wish me luck!

Than the wholesome actions of parents
Toward their children." Dhammapada Chapter 3 Mind

So there's some bad news I have to share

I didn't get the scholarship to China. But I don't really mind because out of a lost experience come countless others. So until I have plans to make a trip somewhere else I will remake this into a food and philosophy blog or whatever comes to mind at any particular point in time.

Black bean paste pork with bok choy and rice

I took some of the pork i had marinated in Chinese bbq marinade and added just salt pepper and black bean paste. The lack of different seasonings come from the philosophy of Cantonese cooking, the best tastes usually have really simple flavors in the dishes. And being from a cantonese background I try to apply this in my cooking. This is the result.
This is the delicious result. In between the pork and rice is stir fried bok choy, I just washed the bok choy and  mixed it in with the left over bean paste, then stir fried them. The taste is quite complex for something that is made up of simple ingredients and it has a big depth of flavor. Hopefully i can keep cooking these different foods I would like to try cooking szechuan style foods. Look forward to new dishes!

Chinese inspired dinner

I know you can't see it that well but this dish is made up of beef strips, rice, gai choy, and onions. I used some white cooking wine, black bean sauce, mushroom soy sauce, salt and some sugar. I really don't want to elevate my cooking skills but this was one of the best dishes I have made in past months. There really isn't any reason or thoughts about this dish but the experience of homemade foods is just plain good. I look forward to sharing more foods.
